Visited Paris Games Week this weekend and it was nice as always. Tried to play the new Pirate Yakuza but was little disappoiunted that the demo didnt have the ship battle available.
Something I noticed with the event was the Sony didnt have much of a presence, they were only there with Astrobot, was expecting them to actually have own booth with the PS5 Pro.
Xbox had much bigger presence and seemed to push Gamepass quite a bit, so that was nice to see.
Overall the year felt little light.
I've been using wordpress and building my websites with it for a long time now. But with everything going on with them
I felt that I don't feel like using them anymore. So it was a good time to start thinking about what I want out of my website.
First I do want it to feel very human, as a contrast to all AI and bot stuff that is so big part of the internet now.
I also wanted to do something with the Fediverse. So I will try and build my own blog engine that is clean, simple and somehow is part of the fediverse.
Stay tuned for progress updates! My site as it is now is the first step.:)
Until this point Ive been experimenting with both 2D and 3D and have now kind of an idea how I would do both.
Now I just have to decide which way I would actually make my game. Let's reflect a little bit.
3D:
+ Slight easier to make overall.
+ Maybe bigger audience?
+ Game foundation can be used to much more game types.
Fine detail much much harder to make time wise.
Very complex to get started with.
Need better hardware to really get going.
2D:
+ Much faster to make fine detail.
+ Very cozy to work with pixel art.
+ Could be unique selling point and niche audience.
+ Less requirements for fine detail.
Limited appeal maybe?
Much harder to get art to the standards of the market.
Much more competition with other pixel art Indies.
Overall feels like 2D is much more managable and doable but also I could just be ignorant. Like I want to make Paris as a backdrop,
in 3D I can use openstreetdata but in 2D I have to draw it all. But in 3D I still need to make the fine detail which will probable take much more time than drawing it all.
BUT once I have the map in 3D I can use it from very different kinds of games. In a way I can't in 2D.
Welcome! So I decided to nuke my wordpress blog and just make a new simple website. Still trying to figure out just how this is going to take shape. While this is the first post I make on this new site, I will probably add older posts from my old blog.
Been trying to learn basics of animations in blender and wow it is actually much harder than I thought it would be, even when using animations from Mixamo! But that feeling when you have something that actually doesn't look horrible!
